However, the journey to Aaru is fraught with peril. The deceased must overcome many demons, including Apep, the god of chaos, who takes the form of a colossal serpent. With help from powerful gods and goddesses including Re, the sun-god, and Osiris, ruler of the underworld, they must navigate the various challenges that stand between them and eternal paradise.

Despite its name, the Book of the Dead wasn't wasn't a single 'book', but a collection of funerary scrolls created over 2,000 years.
