I have been writing many articles during my life as a scientist. Always in English. But now, being old enough for retirement, I was a bit confused over what to do with my life. However, my clever husband said "Why don´t you write a book? You have always been writing, so you must have something interesting to say." Well, it´s not that simple. To write something interesting in Swedish was not working, since I have used English during my 45 years as a scientist. I found that out after just one page in Swedish. So why not use the English language!
Then the subject of the book was the next question. The Glastonbury festival 2022 in the UK played host to a special guest: Sir Paul McCartney. Through the lens of my stepson's camera, I was transported to the concert, where an 80-year-old Paul, alongside the spirit of his late bandmate John Lennon, belted out "I Got a Feeling" as they had done back in 1969. Witnessing Paul and John harmonize once more stirred a storm of emotions within me. Since that momentous event, my days have been consumed by a whirlwind of listening, reading, and watching.
The book is called "Then and Now" relating to the title of the last Beatles song "Now and Then". The aim of the book was to weave together the threads of personal anecdotes and the Beatles historical context to create a tapestry of memories and reflections.
Enjoy the reading!
